Pet Pandemonium: top three featured pets

Welcome back to Pet Pandemonium, and to our first Viking Voice edition of this year. Every edition, we select three fuzzy, feathery, shelly, or scaly critters to feature. To start the year off strong, we will begin by introducing my lovely animals:

 “Nebblies” Pebbles

My lovely Russian tortoise, Pebbles, is quite the lady. She spends her time munching away on lettuce, or her favorite snack: strawberries. You know that phrase, “slow and steady wins the race,” right? The stigma that tortoises are slow is an absolute farce. If you let her out of her enclosure without supervising her, she will disappear. Sometimes we have to lure her out of under our beds with a dandelion. Our family adores her for her quirky personality, I suppose.

“Meowsie” Biscuit

What a beauty. Behold, my tabby feline: Biscuit. This cute kitty loves cuddles, her sweater, and bananas. Oh, how she loves bananas. Put one in front of her and she will not stop trying to lick it. It is either that, or cat treats. Since she grew up surrounded by dogs, Biscuit is a professional beggar. But truly, who could say no to that face? Look at her in that sweater. Is it ethical to deny her? We love you, Meowsie.

Flarpy the Hen

This little hen here is quite the character. We often see her hanging out on our porch, away from all the other hens. Seeing her all alone most of her days, you would think she is a shy chicken, but she is actually quite stubborn. Flarpy is a pain to get back into the coop at night. When she notices a predator bird approaching, however, you might as well say she is a rooster. Her impressive speed and crowing ability are truly like no other. We felt like it was appropriate to feature her as appreciation for keeping every hen (but herself) safe and in check. Thanks Flarpy.

That concludes this edition’s first Pet Pandemonium column. Thanks for reading, and we can not wait to meet all your pets in the future.
