Colorado has removed Trump from being an eligible option to vote for in the 2024 ballot. Their winning argument pointed to the chaos that was the January 6th, 2021 riots. Colorado had received US historians’ signatures on a brief to remove Trump from Colorado’s ballot which went through the supreme court’s acceptance. This decision is based on the third section of the 14th amendment, which states that participants in an insurrection cannot hold office.
Maine also wants to remove Trump from its ballots, an oral argument will be held Feb. 8th to decide the matter. The case will also likely proceed to the Supreme Court and so all states will have a decision to follow. Whatever comes next will spark very interesting discussions amongst most Americans and certainly be a turning point within politics.
