Willy Wonka Coming to Orcas Center

To round out everyone’s Halloween, the Orcas Center presented The Addams Family, the musical starting on Oct. 26 and closing last night. If you missed The Addams Family or even if you saw it, there are more opportunities coming up to see some local theatre at the Orcas Center. Coming up Nov. 16-19 is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, a stage version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Before you ask, yes, there are going to be Oompa-Loompas. This production is directed by Didier Gincig, and should be a real treat.

For this Christmas season, a production of A Christmas Carol, with music composed by Jim Bredouw, will be performed at the Orcas Center. While the music and the script may be familiar to many, there are going to be some unique twists this time round. There are going to be multiple massive puppets, and some gender reversals that give the play a new depth and added interest. The wonderful Melinda Milligan is directing the production with Jim Bredouw himself as music director. There are even some students from OHS in the cast. Performance dates are Dec. 13-17 at 6:30 p.m.

In case you did not pick up the hint already in my effusive praise, please mark your calendars, please go see these productions. Our local theatre could always use more support. And remember if you are a student, you do get a slight discount on tickets. Just a reminder.
